Your Not-So-Final Dental Quiz

June 1, 2016CHAPEL HILL, NC – Sunrise Dental, a comprehensive dental practice with multiple North Carolina offices, recently participated in an old-fashioned picking and grinning festival in the Parkside Town Commons.
The first Fest in the West was hosted by local publication Cary Citizen on May 22. The event celebrated the area’s heritage and rich history in bluegrass, music and crafts. The festival included entertainment from local bluegrass musicians, children’s activities and blacksmithing demonstrations.
“We were excited to participate in the kickoff year for this incredible, fun West Cary family event,” said Dinah Vice, who owns Sunrise Dental. “Our staff had the chance to meet community members and patients outside of the office in a great family atmosphere.”
The Fest in the West included a photo booth, a little farm where children could learn about fruits and vegetables and an arts and crafts village. The attendees also participated in contests between musical acts.
The Cary Citizen created the event to pay homage to Cary’s growth over the last 40 years. The city has more than 150,000 residents, and much of the growth has taken place on the west side of town — hence Fest in the West. While most Cary festivals and community events are located downtown, the Fest in the West is hosted on the west side of the city.
“Our dental team was proud to celebrate this fast-growing and wonderful community,” Dr. Vice said. “We met with several of our current patients and even had the chance to speak with community members about the importance of dental care.”
Sunrise Dental locations are in Chapel Hill, Cary, Raleigh and Durham and each office has at least two doctors who provide timely, comprehensive care to patients of all ages. Dr. Vice started Sunrise Dental in 1985 and has eight associates. The dental team at Sunrise Dental is trained in preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, restorative dentistry, root canal therapy, gum disease treatment, Invisalign, dental implants, TMJ and headache relief and sleep apnea treatments.
The staff of Sunrise Dental is focused on using technology to achieve precise and aesthetic results. The practice uses a cone beam computed tomography scanner to diagnose dental problems and to plan out restorative and cosmetic treatments. The scanner provides 3-D images of the teeth, jawbone and oral cavity, and even exposes the tiny vessels and nerves.
One of the biggest advantages of the CBCT is that it can be used in planning and placing dental implants. Dental implants and mini dental implants nearly mimic the power of natural teeth and can be restored with individual crowns or dentures.
Dr. Vice has worked in dentistry for more than 30 years. She got interested in dentistry because she struggled with crooked teeth as a child. She entered the dental hygiene program at Ohio State University in 1970 and started working professionally in 1972. She later earned her dental degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1984. After dental school, Dr. Vice decided to stay in Chapel Hill and opened up the first Sunrise Dental location in 1985.
Two of Dr. Vice’s children, Dr. Dirk Vice and Dr. Esther Vice-Hanson, are associates at Sunrise Dental.
